Spider Man Brand New Day, Brand New Film and this time sees the web flinging hero aka Peter Parker (Tom Holland looking more buff than he ever has before) in a new era after his identity had been revealed to the world I the previous film No Way Home and whose collective memories were wiped by Doctor Strange. So whilst Spiderman’s anonymity is restored it also means that his friends and especially his beloved MJ (Zendaya) have no memory of him. Between his riding NYC of crime Peter Parker spends his spare time trying to reconnect and spark some romance with MJ. Like his hoped for romance this fourth film is something of a reset and mercifully a move away from the multiverse that arguably was dragging down the whole MCU.
Spider Man Brand New Day begins…
So while Spidey is fighting the super villains that includes Scorpion and a blink and you’ll miss it Tombstone there’s a new entity in town that takes control of the mind of others getting them to do their bidding. It’s not Meghan Markle and it seems that the intent is to infiltrate the Dept of Damage Control that’s headed up by Bill Metzger (Tramell Tillman) and added to Parkers predicament is his physical health that seems to be worsening. And into the mix is thrown a surprise cameo, an impressive and convincingly rendered Hulk ( who for once is not treated comically) and more significantly Frank Castle aka the Punisher whose life Spidey saved.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton whose previous Marvel film was ‘Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ steps up to the plate in impressive style with the scenes of Spidey swinging through NYC in exhilarating if on occasion improbable style.
And so……
There’s a lot going on in Spider Man – Brand New Day which accounts for the films 145 minute running time and it does get a little saggy in the third act. But this is epic, expansive and far more gritty and on occasion a far more emotional Spider Man film than we’ve seen before which will please the hardcore fans especially making this one of the best Spiderman films yet
End Credits : Yes but it’s right at the absolute very end and it’s an interesting one especially for the ultra fan
