Rebecca Yarros is a big name author of romantic novels but really hit pay dirt with her Fourth Wing fantasy novels. And since then the novels have been much sought after for optioning by film companies which is as much to do with the authors popularity as it is to do with the popularity of big screen love stories. Well now there’s news of the latest Rebecca Yarros book adaptation and that will be for her novel, ‘The Things We Leave Unfinished’

The story tells of a woman who, after a devastating public big city divorce, returns home in the Rockies where she must reluctantly work with an arrogant bestselling author to finish her late great-grandmother’s WWII love story. In the process, the two uncover secrets of the past even as their undeniable attraction brings them closer together.
Adapting the novel will be Arash Amel who previous includes ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ which was a wholly different genre. Rebecca Yarros author will be executive producing Things We Leave Unfinished through her production company Full Measures Productions. Directing will be Thea Sharrock whose has previous in the genre with the weepie, ‘Me Before You’ but has also helmed, ‘Wicked Little Letters’.

The film is part of Lionsgate’s move into the genre which has proved extremely lucrative such as The Housemaid that was based on the novel by Freida McFadden and starred Sydney Sweeney and made a huge $400m and a sequel was quickly greenlit and is about to go into production. The company also recently won a seven-studio bidding war for the adaptation rights to The Correspondent by Virginia Evans and Lionsgate also have The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping to hit the big screens later this year.
