The Tuner trailer from a company with a great pedigree ……
Now as we’ve mentioned before we’re big fans of Black Bear a company who have a startlingly good back catalogue of films that they have released over the past five years or so that have included Conclave, The Son, Dumb Money, Ferrari, Origin, Long legs, The Monkey, Keeper, Shelter and Relay. All of those films are well worth a look so when the Tuner trailer dropped we were keen to take a look and the premise is terrific.
That Tuner trailer story….
The Tuner here is a gifted piano tuner whose meticulous skills for tuning pianos lead him to discover an unexpected aptitude for cracking safes, turning his life upside down and perhaps not for the best.
The cast…
The film is lead by Leo Woodall (Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, One Day, The White Lotus), and co-stars Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Lior Raz (Gladiator II), with Jean Reno (Léon: The Professional) and double Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman (Kramer Vs. Kramer, Rain Man) and its been far too long since we’ve seen Hoffman in something and something good too (we’ve chosen to rightly forget Coppola’s Megalopolis.)
The Oscar winner behind it all…
Helmed by Daniel Roher an Oscar winner for his 2023 documentary ‘Navalny’ that followed a man who survived an assassination attempt by poisoning with a lethal nerve agent in August 2020. During his months-long recovery he makes shocking discoveries about the attempt on his life and decides to return home. It is a terrific looking trailer and the film was also revealed as the Surprise Film at the 69th BFI London Film Festival on 9th October 2025 and recently played at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
