Landing in our inbox is a first look photo for Ink from Academy and BAFTA award winning Danny Boyle (28 Years Later, Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) who directs the film which is based on the Tony nominated play by multi-Olivier award-winning playwright and screenwriter James Graham (Dear England, Sherwood, Brexit), Graham who has also written the screenplay.
Recently announced by La Biennale di Venezia INK, a STUDOCANAL, MEDIA RES and House Productions film, will have its world premiere screening in competition on 2nd September 2026 in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema (Lido di Venezia) on the opening night of the 83rd Biennale Cinema.
Ink – The rise of The Sun
BAFTA winner Jack O’Connell (Sinners), Academy Award nominated Guy Pearce (Memento, LA Confidential) and BAFTA nominated Claire Foy (The Crown, All of us Strangers) star in INK, an explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news – one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today. Essentially, in 1969, as rising media tycoon Rupert Murdoch acquires the daily newspaper “The Sun,” his partnership with editor Larry Lamb turns the paper into Britain’s most influential tabloid.

A terrific cast sees O’Connell star as THE SUN editor Larry Lamb with Pearce as Rupert Murdoch. Claire Foy is Jules Davies. Danny Boyle produces with Tessa Ross (Conclave, The Iron Claw, Zone of Interest) and Michael Ellenberg (The Morning Show, Pachinko.) INK reunites Boyle and Ross following their collaboration on Slumdog Millionaire. Tracey Seaward (The Two Popes, Philomena, Pistol) also produces.
The UK & Irish theatrical release date for Danny Boyle’s INK is set for release in cinemas on Friday 8th January 2027.
