Back in the Nineties – can’t believe its 30 years ago now! – and Britpop was on the ascent lead by two bands of the day. Oasis and Blur. So whilst the former band crashed and burned amongst two squabbling brothers Blur carried on, broke up, reformed, broke up, reformed and all on mostly amicable terms. 2023 saw the band temporarily reform to record a new album The Ballad of Darren culminating in their first Wembley stadium tour. It was was all covered in the Blur documentary by filmmaker Toby L who had previously made ‘Knebworth 22 : Liam Gallagher.’
Following the band meeting up for the first time in eight years in Damon’s west country home to the band talk about their anxieties and relationships before a number of incidents put the tour in jeopardy.
Blur’s recent reunion, captured across a year in which they made a surprise return with their first record in 8 years and we chatted with director Toby L about Damon , Liam , archive footage and a load of behind the scenes stories.
