Imaginary trailer - were those childhood friends actually real after all
Many kids seem to have had imaginary friends. We also think our Editor may also be suffering the same delusion when he says he drinking with friends at The Nags Head particularly when we ask their names and after some moments the best he can come up with is, Charlie Carling, Gary Guinness and of course not forgetting his French mate Stefan StellaArtois. Anyway the Imaginary trailer deals with those childhood friends that take a dangerous turn for the worse for a young girl
So coming From Blumhouse, the genre-defining masterminds behind Five Nights at Freddy’s and M3GAN, comes an original horror that taps into the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: are they really figments of childhood imagination or is something more terrifying lying just beneath?
When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behaviour becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realise Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.
Director Jeff Wadlow’s previous films have included Kick Ass 2 and the horror big screen version of Fantasy Island and the three credited screenwriters have credits that include Playmobil the movie and a number of TV shows. That said the trailer looks pretty good with ample opportunity for some decent scares and may have adults who have kept their childhood teddies reconsidering keeping them
Imaginary is released on 8th March 2024
