With the Christmas season now underway we have the latest in a slew of seasonal movies with the release of Genie a fairy-tale comedy about a workaholic man who enlists the help of a magical genie to help win his family back before Christmas. (read our review HERE) Starring Melissa McCarthy the fil is written by British scriptwriting legend Richard Curtis, the man behind Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and that other Christmas favourite, ‘Love, Actually’. He introduced the film at a special screening and spoke about the inspiration for the film that is actually a reworking of his 1991 film ‘Bernard and the Genie’ that starred Alan Cumming (he also appears in genie in a different role).

We also got the chance to chat to the films director Sam Boyd, himself a writer but here for the first time directs from another’s script and we got spoke  to him about a whole load of stiff including a quip in the film about Ricky Gervais!
