Sonic the Hedgehog 3 but without actors...Will Jim Carrey be back?

Sonic the Hedgehog was released in February 2020 and made a respectable $319m but as the world went into lockdown over the next few months and few film were released in the year it meant the film was one of the most financially successful of 2020. A sequel was greenlit in 2022 earning $405m so a third film is obviously on its way. But news is in of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 but without actors…..

Filming is to take place in the UK where sets are currently being built in Farnham, Surrey with stand ins for Sonic, Tails and Knuckles being used as reference points ready for filming to begin shortly but the reason got no actors is due to the current SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike and so the filming will be for shots involving backgrounds for just the CG animated creatures. Once the strike is hopefully 9 hopefully sooner rather than later, the actors will then begin filming their roles in the film. So expect to see James Marsden, Jim Carrey, and Tika Sumpter again who are expected back post-strike and Ben Schwartz will reprise as the voice of the hedgehog. Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington have written the screenplay for this third film and director Jeff Fowler will return once more to helm the project.

The release date for “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is still on track for a December 20th 2024 release but as with all productions this is very much dependent on how long the strike continues which has already shut down Gladiator 2 amongst many other high profile productions.

So Sonic the Hedgehog 3 but without actors…..will eventually have actors
