Now the Terrifier films may have passed under your radar but the low budget, high gore horror films have proved so successful that we now have a Terrifier 3 trailer which promises to be as gruesomely gory as the previous films have been and the film is not out til October 2024.
This time the films move from a Halloween setting to Christmas with Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton). The film will depart from the more supernatural and fantasy approach he took to “Terrifier 2” and will be the “scariest and darkest” installment of the franchise and ‘shift back a bit to the tone of Part One, which I felt was a little more simplistic and old school, gritty slasher,” says writer-director Damien Leone.
If you saw the second film (made on a budget of just $100,000 but raked in over $11 million!) you’ll know that the films heroine, teenager Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) went into battle with Art and managed to decapitate the clown. However the ending revealed that it wasn’t the last we would see of him, as Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi), the only survivor of the first film’s Halloween massacre, gave birth to Art’s decapitated living head in a mental institution. This third film will apparently expand on the mythology of Art the clown and we will see that he isn’t human at all, but instead an evil entity with the ability to repeatedly resurrect.
Hmmm….a clown who can never be eliminated always to return and wreak havoc, carnage and chaos wherever he goes. Rumours that this third film is based on the life and times of Boris Johnson remain unconfirmed.
“Terrifier 3” is set to open in cinemas on 25th October 2024.
