The Last Voyage of the Demeter – TRAILER

When a trailer starts with someone saying, ‘Evil is on board!’ our first thought was that Netflix are doing a documentary about Meghan Markle on a cruise ship. Turns out that actually its the start of The Last Voyage of the Demeter trailer.  So with the release of Renfield with Nicolas Cage camping it up as Dracula its a good time to release this trailer.

The film has been a long time in production but takes one of the most famous chapters of Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula” and adapts it into its own feature film. here the film follows a 19th-century Russian merchant ship chartered to transport fifty unmarked wooden crates from Carpathia to London – contents unknown to the crew. Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

Helming the project is acclaimed Norwegian film director Andre Ovredal, whose previous includes Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe and having interviewed him some years ago he’s the ideal man to helm such a project. With a cast that includes Corey Hawkins, David Dastmalchian, Liam Cunningham, Aisling Franciosi, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Nikolai Nikolaeff, Woody Norman, Martin Furulund, Chris Walley its the 6’7 actor Javier Botet as Dracula who proves to be alarming presence in the trailer. This is firmly going down the horror path with no laughs here a la Renfield

The Last Voyage of the Demeter is released on 11th August 2023
