With the ceremony delayed until April 25th a spatially distanced Oscars 2021 ceremony is on the way with instructions from scientists. But the spatial distancing here will take it a step further insofar as the ceremony will be broadcast live from a number of sites but will still include the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood where it has taken place in recent years.
Quite where and what those venues ware and will be remains to be seen but there is much speculation that the ceremony will also come from new York on the east Coats (and all the time delay problems that will come with that). That Oscars 2021 ceremony spatial distances by being on both coats of America is not without precedent as this was how the show was broadcast way back in the 1950’s. And it is rumoured that it will take the spatial distancing to its logical conclusion by possibly having an international venue too.
An Academy Awards spokesman has told the press that, “In this unique year that has asked so much of so many, the Academy is determined to present an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate. To create the in-person show our global audience wants to see, while adapting to the requirements of the pandemic, the ceremony will broadcast live from multiple locations, including the landmark Dolby Theatre. We look forward to sharing more details soon.”
Producing a spatially distanced Oscars 2021 ceremony will be Steven Soderbergh, Stacey Sher and Jesse Collins.

The Oscars this year looks wide open with the streaming channels rather than the channels looking likely to do well.
