We know there’s a load of tennis fans out there and with Wimbledon just round the corner it is a good time to release the tennis themed Challengers trailer. We occasionally watch tennis games though our Editor is not keen on watching a game where balls are mercilessly battered as it reminds him too much of getting home from The Nags Head on a Friday night after a skinful only to be met by his less than impressed wife.
So we have had several great tennis films over the years including ‘Borg v McEnroe’ and ‘Battle of the Sexes‘ but the Challengers trailer looks set to be the latest with a cast that is led by Zendaya with Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist
From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – West Side Story), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – The Crown) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.
