With the series regularly passing the $1billion mark since Fast and Furious 7 the franchise now beings to draw to a close with the release of a industry trend for franchises – the two parter end film starting with the Fast X trailer. Now think the film makers have missed out on a treat here . We were very much hoping that part 9 would be set in Germany so that one character could ask, ‘Are you Fast & Furious?’ to which a new character called Herman will reply, ‘Nein!’ Whereas this last film could have the tagline, ‘fasTEN your seat belts’ (‘yes, that’s enough thank you’ – Ed) or ‘It’ll have you on TENterhooks’ (stop it – Ed)……..
or ‘Its going to be TENse’ (one more and your fired– Ed)…….or Screenplay by Alfred Lord TENnyson (‘you’re an idiot – you’re fired!’)
Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever. In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.
But we digress…one thing we do know is that it will be about is ( adopts husky drawl) faaaaamily and the trailer certainly implies that this will be centred around Dominic Toretto’s son. All the cast are back including later additions Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Jason Statham bit no Dwayne Johnson after their tiff. Jason Momoa is the bad guy and Louise Letterier directs after Justin Lin seemingly after a disagreement with Vin Diesel
Fast X is released on 19th May 2023
