A Lena Headey Thor cameo?
We really like Lena Headey’s catalogue of work that’s taken in fantasy films such as Game of Thrones to human dramas like The Flood to superhero films like the excellent but under rated Judge Dredd that was one of the best films in the 3D craze after Avatar’s release. Well it turns out that she was in another superhero film namely ‘Thor : Love and Thunder but it turns out that the Lena Headey cameo was cut.
So whilst director Taika Waititi has previously confirmed that some roles that were significant early in the film’s development had been either sidelined others had been cut entirely from the film of which Headey’s was one even though Waititi had approached her himself to take the role in the film. But it appears that The Lincoln Lawyer” actor Angus Sampson and Oscar winner and “Only Murders in the Building” star Da’Vine Joy Randolph had appeared in the film also but they too were cut from the film.
Why the Lena Headey Thor cameo was cut….
Heady explained, “I wasn’t in it, but I worked on it. There were three of us. We were [a] coven of witches. I think it was Taika’s invention, and they were kind of Thor’s guide in the underworld, but they were very, very funny and kind of insane. I think there was this whole story of like, ‘They got fired,’ when actually it was just like, ‘What are they doing here?’ But I think the intention was to find this land for them to have their own adventures. It was myself, Angus Sampson, and Da’Vine Joy, so it was quite a trio of madness… So yeah, bummer that we didn’t make the cut”
Unfortunately the Lena Headey Thor cameo scene didn’t even make it on the Home Ent disc release and, from what the director has said, it never will.
