Peter Mullan is a terrific actor most recently seen in the BAFTA winning Tourette’s true story ‘I Swear’. It’s just one of many terrific and frankly under rated that he’s appeared over the years and should really be a household name. Maybe The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford trailer will change that.
The film follows Kenneth McKay (Mullan), a recent widower and enthusiastic tour guide at a dusty visitor centre in the small town of Arberloch, dedicated to his alleged ancestor and notable Enlightenment figure Sir Douglas Weatherford. When Arberloch becomes a shooting location for a successful fantasy TV show, and Sir Douglas’ local renown is threatened by the pop culture phenomenon, Kenneth’s world gets turned upside down, and he takes it upon himself to preserve his legacy at any cost.
the debut feature from writer‑director Seán Dunn and had its UK premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival, marking a significant homecoming for the film and its creative team, which followed its World Premiere at the 2026 Rotterdam Film Festival, where it screened in the Big Screen Competition. Alongside Peter Mullan, the cast also includes Gayle Rankin, Jacob Oftebro and Lewis MacDougall.
