Nasal voiced whining folk singer Bob Dylan is to have a bio-pic and is the latest in the long line of revered singers ( Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston) and groups (Queen) to have one. And playing the role ? Well Timothee Chalamet IS Bob Dylan. Its not an obvious bit of casting whereas Chalamet is a hearth throb to millions of teenage girls, Dylan is one who often finds his photo placed above fire places to keep young children away from it.
Helming the film will be director James Mangold (who will be doing the rounds promoting the last Indiana Jones film )who asked asked the obvious question, ‘Is Timothee going to be singing in the role?’ to which the director replied, ‘Of course!’ The project is based on author Elijah Wald’s 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric and has a script from Jay Cocks.
Mangold said, ‘“It’s such an amazing time in American culture and the story of a young, 19-year-old Bob Dylan coming to New York with like two dollars in his pocket and becoming a worldwide sensation within three years — first being embraced into the family of folk music in New York and then, of course, kind of outrunning them at a certain point as his star rises so beyond belief,”
We will soon see what his voice is like as he has seven songs in the December release of Wonka although its doubtful whether he’ll be singing in the follow up to Dune which is released in November this year with rumours that a teaser trailer is to drop soon.
Timothee Chalamet IS Bob Dylan as may be but quite what he will look like at this point is not known but as the Bob Dylan song goes, ‘The answer my friend is blowing in the wind!’….wholly irrelevant we know but we had to show horn a song in somehow (‘You’re fired!’ – Ed)
