With the release of the recent Avatar 2 teaser trailer (watch it HERE) we can expect the hype to really start ramping up in the Autumn ready for its Christmas 2022 release as part of an overall intended five film franchise. With the second and third film shot at the same time (the third film is slated to be released in December 2024) director James Cameron has dropped a bombshell that he possibly wont be directing any fourth or fifth film! So who will direct Avatar 4?
“The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming,” he has said and had admitted that there other projects that he’s keen to shoot instead. ‘I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in,” but then added……… “Or maybe not. I don’t know.”
This is what happened with Alita Battle Angel a film that he had lined up before eventually handing it over to Robert Rodriguez instead ( watch them both HERE at the London premiere). Whether we will even get a fourth film will wholly depend on the box office for films that had proved to be hugely expensive so far. However Cameron is keen to see the story play out over all five films saying, “Movie four is a corker. It’s a motherf**ker,” he said in his usual modest way, “I actually hope I get to make it. But it depends on market forces’
