It’s incredible to think that its been twenty years since The Lord of the Rings trilogy which went on to make a box office fortune and sweep the board at the Oscars after the final film. Actor Dominic Monaghan who played Merry has gone on to appear in a load of other high profile shows including TV series ‘Lost as well as feature films X-Men Origins : Wolverine. His latest film is ‘Edge of the World’ which he also executive produces too. Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers its the adventures of Sir James Brookes, who defied the British Empire to rule a jungle kingdom in 1840s Borneo embarking on a lifelong crusade to end piracy, slavery and head-hunting and Monaghan plays his sidekick Arthur Crookshank a military man with no quite the same outlook. It’s a true story which went on to inspire the film tge man who would be King starring Sean Connery.
Dominic was kind enough to talk to us at length about the making of the film, Edge of the World’ which was shot in the exotic locale of Malaysia. He had a whole load of interesting anecdotes to tell us about what went on behind the scenes and most notably the bizarre incident that happened to him at at airport security after he had finished filming? He also went on to tell us about the most uncomfortable thing about shooting the film. And of course with a hugely expensive TV Lord of the Rings TV series in the offing he told us exactly what he thinks of the intended remake?
