Horror maestro James Wan has helmed several franchises starting with Saw then following it with Insidious, The Conjuring and The Nun. Not forgetting Fast & Furious 7 and Aquaman. Those last two films put him in an elite group of directors with two films that have earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. But news is out about James Wan’s Creature from the Black Lagoon a reboot/ remake of the classic black and white Universal monster movie from the 1950’s. Wan is developing a grounded modernized retelling that leans into visceral horror while paying respect to the original classic.
Wan’s track record in the horror genre is exemplary with his genre films earing a fortune and The Creature From the Black Lagoon has been a high priority for Universal since the studio revamped its monster movies strategy in 2019 to focusing on filmmaker-driven projects.
