With Scream 5 or Scream as it was actually titled (read our review HERE) being a success earning $140m off its $23m budget a sequel was greenlit within four weeks of the films release. So with filming on the Scream 6 sequel having just wrapped here’s what we know so far….
- For the first time the film will leave its traditional Woodsbro town setting and will now take place in New York
- Though its now set in New York the film has actually been shot in |Montreal, Canada
- This will be the first film that does not feature Neve Campbell who left the project after a disagreement over salary. This leaves Courtney Cox as the last remaining original cast member to appear in the film
- Ghostface will be tracking down the four surviving members for Scream 5 (Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Melissa Barrera (Keep Breathing), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Yellowjackets), and Mason Gooding (Fall)..plus anyone he sets his eyes on we’re guessing
- Joining the cast list are Samara Weaving (who was impressive in the directors debut film ‘Ready or Not’), Liana Liberato, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, Devyn Nekoda, and Dermot Mulroney (who will apparently be playing a cop) joining the cast.
- Hayden Panettiere is set to reprise her role as Kirby Reed (who was previously thought to be dead) from 2011’s Scream 4 but Scream 5 suggested that she did in fact survive.
- The Scream 6 sequel release date is scheduled for 31st March 2023
- There will be a person wearing a mask over his face ….um……it will be like a ghost…urrrrr….it’ll be called… um….Ghostface…..um….because he has a face like a ghost! (‘You’re fired! – Ed)
